The bedroom is a haven, a place you retire to after spending a hard day at work or at home. Also, a place you spend with your partner, talking and sharing stories of the day. And that’s why it is important to use furniture that reflect your and your partner’s personalities. Apart from the bed, here are a few examples of furniture you can use to make the bedroom your own personal haven.
- Dresser: Add a useful dresser and mirror to store all your accessories and make-up and perfumes. And what not. If you have the space, you can also add a lovely little stool to the dresser. Use dressers with a lot of engraving and design to give your room a softer look. Or you can just go minimalistic and have the sleek ones storing your knick-knacks and the items you don’t know where to store otherwise. You can also use the dresser to store your delicate items and documents.
- Bookshelves: If you don’t have the space, then there is no need to give your bedroom the library look. You can install a few shelves on the walls of your bedroom to shelve a few books that you love reading every now and then – when you are bored, sick or just plain thinking of it. Any empty space on the shelves can also be used to display little show pieces – memoirs of any travels you must have enjoyed with your friends or family. Bookshelves come in all shapes and sizes, choose the minimalistic ones so as to not clutter up the walls of your bedroom. There are also ladder bookshelves that you can use, but only if you don’t have any young kids who can perform acrobatics on the ladder bookshelves!
- Study table: Working from home? Then a home office setup is a great idea, and it is okay to set it up in your bedroom if you don’t have a separate room for the same. A sleek table with all your work-related books and documents, an electrical point for your lap top and wi-fi connection, and a sleek lamp.
- Chaise lounge: Having a chaise lounge with a lot of cushions is classy addition to your bedroom if you have the space for it. A chaise lounge upholstered in with traditional fabric may just brighten up your room and make a good place to sit and chat with a friend, your children or your partners.
- Bean bags: These are such versatile pieces of furniture that go with any décor and any room. If you are the type of the person who likes to curl up with a book and cup of coffee or your gaming laptop, then a bean bag is a wonderful addition to your bedroom. Have a pair of bean bags and add a spunk of fun to your bedroom. Perfect for a bedroom with a large screen TV and an XBOX console. If your bedroom is full of solid colours, then use boldly printed and oddly shaped bean bags to give your room a fun look.
- Side table: Always useful to have a pair of side tables to keep your night lamp, your glasses, books, an alarm clock, you name it. Wooden, wicker tables, glass topped – there is whole wide world of options when it comes to selecting a set of side tables. All you need to consider is the utility. There are side tables with drawers, or cabinets and shelves, or just plain table tops. You can also use sleek dressers as side-tables. The trend with dressers and side tables is to use live and spunky colours to liven up the bedroom and give it a youthful look.
- Bench: If you have space at the foot of your bed, then you can use it to place a bench. A nicely cushioned bench at the foot of the bed can prove to be a nice seating arrangement when you want to just sit and think for some time, or maybe just wear your shoes.
- Chairs: Cushioned chairs, patio chairs, wickerwork chairs, oh the possibilities. And if you have a balcony, cherry on the top. A pair of chairs with a tiny little coffee table or an ottoman can prove to be a wonderful thinking spot, alone or with your partner. The only point to consider when placing the chairs, is to not place them around your dresser or your wardrobe, so that the chairs don’t become stash points. Elevate the comfort level of the chairs by adding a few cushions and bring out the child-like personality within you with some stuffed toys.
